Superb base for exploring the Lake District
- one of the most beautiful and unspoilt places in Britain.

There are beautiful views and acres of hillside to explore in and around The Lake District.

Holiday houses often have their own outdoor seating area for alfresco dining! The accommodation generally consists of bedrooms (single bedroom and double/twin bedrooms), bathrooms/ shower/ensuite shower rooms. A kitchen with eating area, sitting room - and sometimes an additional room giving you the luxury of being able to escape and curl up with a good book by the open fire!

Cottage are usually fully equipped with modern appliances including a microwave, television, video and electric blankets on all the beds. Late availability bookings are often discounted and cancellations or last minute accommodation can be very cheap. The rental properties show all their information adn you can request further details form the property owner before comitting to a rental. Letting periods will vary but usually the holiday letts are Saturday - Saturday, allowing complete weekly rentals, and out of season short breaks or 'easy breaks' - which are really just long weekend bookings often become available.

The Lake District has magnificent scenery with lakes, mountains and Rivers. Wonderful walks are plentiful, ranging from woodland glades and waterfalls, to serious high level walking, with many high mountain tops. Lake Windermere lies at the southern gateway to the Lakw District. Driving in from Kendal it gives the real feel of the magic of the area - that blessed combination of water and fells all packed so closely together.

The town of Windermere half way along the lake still bears faithful witness to the Victorians who ventured north on the railway to discover the mountains, valleeys and lakes. Imposing Victorian hotels sit alongside smaller slate bed and breakfasts as the town grew to meet the demand from both serious walkers and climbers, and those seeking the more relaxed persuits of strolls by the lake or a steamer trip along to Ambleside.

Windermere is an excellent based if you are looking to combine the diverse pleasures that the Lake District National Park has to offer. It is particularily suited for those looking for a range of activities, beyond fell-walking alone.
